Fear Is A Liar

“Many are harmed by fear itself, and many may have come to their fate while dreading fate” – Seneca

‘Twas the night before competition and all through your house,

everyone else was sleeping,

but your mind was running at warp speed.

• • •

I know how you feel. I’ve been there before.

Going through all the possibilities that could happen.

What will the competition look like?

Maybe you already know who the competitors are and you just KNOW you are going to get embarrassed by them.

You are scared.

For one reason or another …

You’re scared about the competition.

Did you eat enough?

Will you be able to get through those double-unders that you feel so incompetent at?

STOP!

Ok, you know where this is going, don’t you?

Your FEAR is paralyzing you.

And nothing you fear has even come true, but yet you behave like it already has.

Fear is a LIAR.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Remember this, the next time that you start to get a paranoid, irrational fear …

If you fail to control your emotions and lose self-control over your thoughts, you may very well end up failing, or getting embarrassed, just like you thought you would.

The human psyche is a funny thing.

And so is that damn ego.

In a struggle between “good and evil” our ego will win … like a “macabre self-fulfilling prophecy”.

If we let it!

Don’t lose control.
Don’t lose your faith.
And DON’T lose your confidence.

You’ll survive, and you’ll come out stronger.

Fear is a liar, so keep your chin up!

    Amen Katie!

I’m getting better at facing my own fears, and usually just tell myself to worry about me, and nothing or nobody else! I also love this acronym:

    Face
    Everything
    And
    Rise

That’s what we have to do!
    Thanks for the uplifting/motivating words!
