Is Intensity Missing From Your Workouts?

Everyone is in search of the holy grail of programs.

The one that is going to lead them to the CrossFit Games.

Why don’t you sit down for a minute, because what I’m about to tell you may shock you.

The secret ingredient is intensity, not programming.

It’s understandable that a program that incorporates all the movements that are necessary to be competitive in exercise is crucial.

It’s also understandable that you should have a program that shows an understanding of cycling of training to accommodate for on/off seasons.

But if you are on a treasure hunt to find your pot of gold programming at the end of the rainbow, you are going to spend the rest of your life searching, jumping from program to program, and never reaching the potential you desire.

Everyone out there is doing sprint intervals.

Everyone out there is snatching, jerking and kipping until the sun comes up.

Everyone out there has discovered the hell of an Airdyne.

What used to be unknowable is now known.

So where is the competitive differentiator?

It’s not if you snatch before you clean.
It’s not that you programmed a short metcon first and then followed up with a hero WOD.
It has NOTHING to do with that.

One word: Intensity.

Are you as efficient, effective and as intense as you can possibly be?

Do you think Mat Fraser goes at his workouts at 80%? Hell no.

That dude has someone chasing him all the time, so his intensity is always his best.

I wouldn’t, for a second, believe that Mat has ever shortchanged himself on a WOD since he won his first “Fittest Man” crown.

Match his motivation.
Match his desire.
Mat’s will to succeed is his most valuable asset.

The internet is LITERALLY an all you can eat buffet of programs.

You want it, it’s out there.

And these are all tested and proven programs in terms of improving athletic ability and preparing athletes for the highest level of competition.

Even plenty of home cooked programs have taken athletes to the top of their games.

So, this brings us back to the question of “What is the competitive differentiator?”

Ladies and gentleman, you can search the world over for the perfect program.

You will only be wasting your valuable time, which you should know by now, every second counts.

Spend your time perfecting your movements, the integrity of your lifts, the efficiency of your gymnastics and spend less time jumping ship from fad program to fad program.

Get a coach who you can trust who can guide you through the proper posture and position for movement.

If you want to be the best you can be, if you want to beat Mat Fraser, you have to match the intensity of your competition, both during practice and out on the proving grounds.
